Full Photoshop N8013/N8010

$

Okay, my fiance and I have the N8010 and N8013 respectively.

Photoshop touch is decent to work with, but she needs something a bit....more.

I have read through the discussions about porting Win 8 to our tablets, but haven't seen anything recent or conclusive on it.

Is there any way to get a full version of Photoshop on the tablets? I am not afraid of rooting or sideloading, so long as it get my fiance what she wants out of it. (She bought hers because of the Wacom Digitizer and advertised photoshop capability, and was disappointed with the lack of features)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

[GUIDE] Rooting Galaxy Tab 10.1 - ICS

$

Hello everybody.

I had some hard time rooting my tablet because of the broken links and outdated guides that didn't work if you had updated to stock ICS. After some hours of tinkering I managed to find the correct files for rooting it so here's and up to date guide for rooting the Galaxy Tab 10.1 with the latest ICS OTA update.

For the record my tablet is GT-P7500 with 3G. This guide should also work for GT-P7510 which is WiFi-only. Please leave a reply if it worked for your other model so I can include it here! Please also tell me if there are mistakes in the guide or you have a problem at some point.

The package can be downloaded from the signature, or in a single file here:
MIRROR - 1 (My server)
MIRROR - 2 (Mediafire)
The package ROOT-GT-P7500.rar includes:
  • A recent version of Odin (v3.07 - 2013)
  • Samsung USB drivers for Windows
  • Odin flashable TWRP recovery
  • TWRP flashable SuperSu

1 - Preparation
  1. Extract the files to a place on your computer.
  2. Make sure Kies isn't running.
  3. Install "Samsung_USB_Driver_1.5.5.0.exe".
  4. Move the file "Flashable_SuperUser.zip" to the root of your sdcard.
  5. Open "Odin3 v3.07".
  6. Press the "PDA" button and select "recovery-TWRP-P4-P7500.tar".
  7. Leave Odin open.

2 - Download mode
  1. Turn off your phone.
  2. Connect the USB cable.
  3. Hold POWER + VOLUME DOWN until you see some Android images.
  4. Press VOLUME UP, wait a moment an press again.
  5. You should now be in "Download mode".
  6. Open Odin and make sure that the first ID:COM column has a bluish colours and some text like "0:[COM4]".

3 - The flashing
  1. Now everything should be ready for Odin to flash you a new recovery.
  2. Press "Start" in Odin to begin the flash, it should only take a few seconds. If your phone reboots everything went fine!
  3. If you have problems with Odin detecting your phone, try rebooting your computer and your phone, and using a different USB port. It's probably a driver problem.
  4. Now turn off your phone to enter the new TWRP recovery.
  5. Hold POWER + VOLUME DOWN until you see some Android images.
  6. Press VOLUME DOWN and then VOLUME UP to enter recovery
  7. Use TWRP to backup your current ROM in case something goes wrong or you want to return to stock ROM some time.
  8. Once the backup is done, press "Install" in the TWRP main menu.
  9. Locate the "Flashable_SuperUser.zip" and flash it.
  10. If it flashed without errors, reboot your phone and see if you now have SuperSu within your apps.
  11. You should now have root access!

4 - Custom ROMs
  1. If you want to install custom ROMs, find a flashable ZIP of your favourite ROM and put it on your SDCARD.
  2. Follow the above steps from step 4 to enter recovery.
  3. Backup your ROM again.
  4. Press "Wipe" and then wipe cache, dalvik-cache, system and do the factory-reset.
  5. Press "Install" and locate your ROM's ZIP-file.
  6. Flash it and reboot!

That's about it. For long-time reliability I've included the file package in the signature in a split rar file (XDA doesn't allow big files). Download them all and then extract only one of them like any other rar file. If none of the mirrors aren't working and you have a problem downloading it from the sig, feel free to send me a PM.

If this helped you, please press thanks!

Honecomb better than Jellybean

After months of procastination I finally made the plunge and upgraded my Samsung Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 from Honeycomb to Jellybean and I can confess it's like an upgrade to hell.
I cannot think of one good reason for doing this to a tab.
Apart from the cosmetic changes, which are to be expected, a lot of the other changes have been made to the internals which seem to degrade the system and the experience.
I used ROM Manager with cm-10.1-20130504-EXPERIMENTAL-p1-cdesai.zip, and gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip for the upgrade.
I rely heavily on bluetooth for making and receiving phone calls on the tab with Plantronics Voyager Pro and also Polar heart rate monitor which I use in the gym., so bluetooth is absolutely essential, so it was shock horror when I found bluetooth not working.
However thanks to ROM Manager for suggesting an update and a reboot and now the bluetooth is working.
However the notification bar at the top of the screen together with its icons are now so tiny that one almost needs a magnifying glass to see them.
In particular the bluetooth icon is gray instead of blue giving the impression that it is not enabled. Since found out that grey icon means enabled, turns to blue when paired/connected and if not enabled then it disappears.
Another concern was that the file system seemed to be all messed up with respect to external card.
Whereas the old file folder used to show externalsd right at the top in a blue folder the new File Manager folder opens showing all the folders in sdcard0 but there is a cumbersome fix to this. Open FileManager, then Menu-Settings-GeneralSettings-AccssMode and select 'Root Access Mode' then a new folder appears called "storage" appears will open.
This will then show a choice of two folders sdcard0 and sdcard1.
Other changes like getting to know how to change the widget on the lock screen and setting permissions for some apps are ongoing.
Some programs which previously had access to the external card are messed up as the path is no longer valid and will have to be reinstalled as well as their maps.
I can say that after a week the bluetooth connections seem fairly reliable and responsive thanks to the CM update.
I think it is just too much trouble to revert to Honeycomb otherwise I would and in my opinion that was the best and most stable version of android, at least on my rooted tab. All I have really achieved is a few cosmetic changes and a lot of work getting everything going like I had it before. One advantage is that I can now install Chrome which seems to be a fairly good browser apart from the fact that it is always running.
I was surprised to find that Google Maps was not installed and had to go and fetch it from the app store.
A major problem which I ran into was that every time an app gets installed it puts what looks like a shortcut on the home screen. If I try to remove the shortcut by dragging it over the X the word 'remove' turns to 'uninstall'.
Since found out after a lot of googling that it is possible to go into the Play Store, tap Settings and uncheck the box next to Auto-add widgets to prevent this happening, and to get rid of a shortcut from your home screen just long-press on it and then flick it up off the screen rather than drag. Crazy. I would imagine that the default setting would be not to add the 'hard to get rid of' shortcut in the first place.

Bugs in screen

I just would like to share my frustration, as if Samsung hadn't screwed us consumers over with he Galaxy Tab 10.1, well anyways, I came home to find 2 ants, not 1, but 2! who managed to find their way into the screen, and just die there. Of all the things and glory they could die for, they decided to do it in my screen. ****. Now I have something worse than 1 dead pixel--- 2 dead pixels. But the other one has a bigger arse, so consider that 3 dead pixels.

PS: They died in between the digitizer and screen so it's not like its easily removable, I don't know if Samsung warranty covers bugs in the system

Solutions anyone? :| I tried watching Adventure Time but their bodies kept taunting me.

Hi everyone and apologies in advance for my noob questions.

I'm currently running the Galaxy Task 14 ROM on my tab and I'm looking for a way to use Google Now on my tab. Is this possible on Galaxy Task and, if not, what ROMS are available that would allow me to run Google Now?

Also, if I choose to install a new ROM what do I actually have to do? Do I need to remove the Galaxy Task ROM from my device, or can I just install the new ROM directly?

Thanks for your help!

How to Fix Bricked (Unbrick) Samsung Galaxy TAB
Many users have been looking for answers if they messed up and bricked their Samsung Galaxy TAB. Today I will give you some hints on how to fix this problem.

Disclaimer: This is my own terms and personal brief explanation, just correct me and add suggestion if I missed up something wrong.

Okay let's tackle what your device problem is.

Is your Galaxy Tab already bricked?

Freeze or Hang on logo.
The phone can boot after pressing the power button but it stuck or freeze on LOGO or home screen and after that it doesn't work any further.

Crashing/Shutdown on logo or often restarted.
Some users they call this problem as boot looping, the device will just automatically shuts off again and again.
At this state the phone can still reaches into Download Mode, Charge Mode and Service mode. They called this problem as SOFT-Bricked. The phone is not already totally bricked on this state.

What about if the Phone doesn't turns On or Power UP is it already bricked?

Some other factors if the device will not power Up is due to battery failure, firmware failure and hardware failure cause by water damaged or accidentally dropped.

Bricked phones will not powering up if the firmware is totally corrupted or damaged. We do not use the term bricked if the phone is still powering up or boot up. We used the term Dead Boot Jammed.

But one thing to remember that the device will not turns ON if the battery is totally drained and the device won't show a battery icon when the battery charger is plug-in.

Hardware failure issue can only determine after checking or diagnosing the firmware.

So how to fix the problems?
If the phone still reaches up to Download Mode (Volume Down+Power Button) and Recovery Mode(Volume Up+Power Buttons), You can still fix the phone by flashing the right firmware again. Firmwares comes on different versions according to your Country or Region and Service or Carrier providers. If you flash a wrong firmware you will messed up again.

This steps below are hints on how to diagnose any so-called bricked problem by users:

Hang, Frozen, Crashing, Auto Shutdown, Often restated:
If your Tab experience hang, frozen or often restarted without doing anything on it or flashing any firmware, You may first try to wipe the data cache of your device and restore it to its original factory default settings:

They called it a Hard reset:
Turn off the phone then Press the Volume Up and Power Button, your device will then boot into recovery mode. Select the wipe data or factory reset option.
This sometimes help and fix the problem but not certainly very often. If the problem still continues then you may need to re-install (flashing) the firmware again.

Flashing the Firmware: This process will install a fresh firmware on the device by Using an Original STOCK ROM and ODIN flasher tool.

Try to use another working battery first or let the charger plug-in for about 8 hours (standard) or less, as long as the battery have the right voltage to power up the phone.

- If the battery seems working or already tried a new one, this time
In this case you may consider that your TAB is already bricked (Dead Boot) or totally messed up. Flashing the firmware by using ODIN will not work this time, because you can't access the phone into Download mode or service mode.

So, is the phone will still can be fix?

Yes! if your device still at its warranty period, we advice that you may send it back to your Samsung sevice centers for repairs. There's is nothing on the web that may help you fix it by your own. There are also many 3rd party mobile phone technicians nearby that can help you recover your TAB just unless if you have already void the warranty of your device.

We will show how does it is going to be fix here, just to inform anyone else for curiosity matter.

If the you TAB is totally messed up, the only way to recover it is by using special tools and the process is a little bit complicated and time consuming.

So what tools needed?
When the phone's firmware is totally damaged, since you cannot use ODIN to install the firmware on it, you will need a tool that can force the device to make you access and install the firmware unto it again. This tools are like the production tool where your Tab are like at the state of factory production.

Okay, instead of using the standard method by flashing through ODIN on phones USB, We used a tool by a way of JTAG flashing. The JTAG flashing needs a JTAG device and a software downloader tool to connect the phone and regain access and install the firmware on the phone again.

And doing this is a bit complicated because it will need to dis-assemble the galaxy TAB and solder some part of it to make a connection from the JTAG device tool to the phone.

The picture below will show which part of the galaxy TAB PCB board where to regain a connection.
It is the JTAG pinouts, where service centers get access to restore the phones firmware.

That's it... hope this helps

Do you know how to buy a best multi touch tablet PC

  Hi,guys
Do you have a multi touch tablet PC? Or are you now considering of buying one? Here, I will talk something with it for you. As we all know, in these recent years, the change made by these devices on our Tech World is really a dominating one as the number of brands and products have been increased in a high amount.
The most famous and recent example is Windows 8 whereas the existing Android and iOS are seamlessly continuing their superb journey along with new features and implementation with daily life's needs.
All these activities by major technology companies are showing that multi touch (www。multi-touching。com/) tablet PCs are about to dominate the contemporary laptops and desktops in a few years.
A tablet PC is unlike from your touchscreen Laptop or touchscreen Desktop just because of its features like comfort, lightweight design, both business and personal use, features to work as an entertainment device etc. So, it's certain that you won't ever wrong to buy a multi touch tablet PC according to your techy/geeky needs.
Moreover, a big quarrel is taking place (as public says) between tablet PC manufacturers including Apple. Samsung, and Microsoft by releasing their products simultaneously with tremendous features to compete with rivals. But for a normal buyer is not concerned about these quarrels and bets since he/she just wants a tablet PC for their own use.
Since the market is filled with hundreds of touchscreen (www。multi-touching。com/touchscreen/) brands and products, most probably it'll hard for you to choose a best tablet PC for your use. And, if you're choosing the wrong touchscreen one for you, needless to say that your money will be gone worst. Therefore, there are a bunch of details you should concern about before buying a tablet PC for business/personal use. Now, stop here, do you how to choose a best multi touch tablet PC for yourself?

[Q] Delete Wifi

I am looking to delete/disable the WiFi from Samsung Galaxy Tab2 10.1. I prefer to delete it at the root rather then add a third party app.

I followed this thread's advice http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1856899.

But in the modules folders there is no "bcmdhd.ko" only "omaplfb_sgx540_120.ko" and "pvrsrvkm_sgx540_120.ko" on the Samsung Galaxy Tab. Is the Wifi file in a different place or are one of these the file?

Thank you for your help.

General Update
My Gtab was feeling old and sluggish and hadn't seen an update for a while and I had stopped using it. Also I have just received a Nexus 4 running android 4.3 which is a fantastic device.

I have applied a nightly release of CyanogenMod 10.1 (4.2.2). The process had some issues for me as the Google Apps package didn't seem to apply correctly however I was able update Play and then all of the google applications after the reboot and everything is there. The tablet now has a new lease on life.

It has only been 24 hours so if there are any issues I will post back.
